Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis was not in action on Saturday night when the Mavericks hosted LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in NBA action. Davis has missed time due to an injured finger, which just adds to other injury matters that have hampered him.
As Davis has been out, his agent, Rich Paul, reportedly demanded that a trade take place for Davis. Yet not everything is as clear-cut as it might look when it comes to Davis and a trade.
NBA Insider Offers Update on Anthony Davis Trade Rumors
During ABC’s telecast of the Lakers-Mavericks game, ESPN NBA writer Tim McMahon, who covered the Mavericks during his time with the Dallas Morning News before joining ESPN, had some interesting things to say about Davis’ mindset at this time.
MacMahon: “There are trade discussions, his agent Rich Paul has made it clear he thinks it’s in AD’s best interest to be traded. AD does not necessarily agree though. I have been told he has not been pushing to be moved and is comfortable here in Dallas”pic.twitter.com/YToODAdrCo

“There are trade discussions, his agent Rich Paul has made it clear he thinks it’s in AD’s best interest to be traded,” McMahon said. “AD does not necessarily agree though. I have been told he has not been pushing to be moved and is comfortable here in Dallas.”
For the season, Davis is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists for the Mavericks, who are now 19-27 for the season. Dallas’ home record fell to 14-12, too, after losing to the Lakers 116-110 at The American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Davis was the first overall draft pick in the 2012 NBA Draft by the then-New Orleans Hornets. After the 2012-13 NBA season, the team changed its name to the Pelicans, which is its name now.
Davis played seven seasons with New Orleans before joining the Lakers in the 2019-2020 NBA season. He helped Los Angeles capture the NBA championship that season, too. But Davis was involved in the blockbuster trade between the Lakers and Mavericks that sent Dallas superstar Luka Dončić out west.
The Mavericks have hoped that Davis could contribute in a big way alongside rookie sensation Cooper Flagg. But Davis’ injury situation has kept him on the sidelines at this point. So, it’s not clear if Davis will be involved in a trade, but rumors continue to fly surrounding the forward and his future with the Mavericks.
