Anthony Davis’ Housing Struggles in Dallas
Anthony Davis has already had a wild ride in Dallas since being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers. Between getting back on the court, dealing with injuries, and adjusting to a new team, the big man has had his hands full.
Davis said to Andscape in an interview, “Not being able to be on the court was the toughest part.”
After the Mavericks’ 101-92 win over the Orlando Magic, Davis was all smiles in the locker room. But there’s another problem lingering off the court—he and his family still don’t have a permanent place to live.
“The only thing I’m not happy about is that I can’t find a damn house in Dallas,” Davis said. “I’ve been looking since I got there, and I can’t find the house. So, me and the wife trying to figure everything out.”
That’s not exactly what you want to hear from your franchise big man, but he’s not the first Maverick to go through it. Dončić, the face of the franchise, dealt with the same issue, and his situation took way longer to resolve.
“Actually, Luka told me it took him two to three years to find a house. So, I’m not trying to wait two or three years. I got kids,” Davis added.
Will Davis’ Situation Affect His Future?
There’s no question that moving mid-season is tough, especially with a family. Davis, a 10-time NBA All-Star, has spent most of his career in New Orleans and Los Angeles, two cities very different from Dallas. While he’s made it clear he’s happy with the Mavericks, the fact that his family is still in limbo might raise some eyebrows.
Davis’ early days in Dallas have been rocky, thanks to injuries. After an explosive 26-point, 17-rebound debut against the Houston Rockets, he re-aggravated an abdominal injury that sidelined him again.
But now that he’s back, the Mavericks need him to settle in fast. They’re fighting for a strong playoff position, and Davis is a major piece in that puzzle.
As for the housing search? Well, it might just take time. Dončić waited years to find the right spot, and Davis, despite wanting a quicker solution, might have to be patient.
