Should You Draft Anfernee Simons in Fantasy Basketball?

Ahead of his Celtics regular-season debut, Anfernee Simons has been widely rumored as a midseason trade candidate in a potential cost-cutting move. In the meantime, he should see plenty of offensive touches and expanded playmaking duties as Boston adjusts to life without Jayson Tatum (Achilles) and Jrue Holiday.

Over his final three seasons in Portland, Simons averaged 20.7 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.3 3-pointers per game. While he struggled with efficiency (43.4% FG) and defense during that stretch, he remains a proven offensive weapon, with elite free-throw shooting (90.4%) boosting his fantasy appeal.

Simons will compete with Payton Pritchard and Derrick White for backcourt minutes, but with Boston fielding arguably the league’s weakest frontcourt, he could benefit from smaller, guard-heavy lineups. That makes him a viable seventh to eighth-round target in standard formats, though a midseason trade could cloud his late-season outlook.
