Al Horford Injury Update: Warriors Big Man Set to Miss Significant Time After Hamstring Setback

Golden State Warriors big man Al Horford is expected to miss time due to injuries. Here's the latest.

Al Horford is already showing signs of aging. This season, his playing time has slightly decreased compared with his previous season with the Boston Celtics. Now playing for the Golden State Warriors, Horford is averaging 21.8 minutes per game.

Despite seeing fewer minutes on the hardwood, his body can only take so much grueling activity. With that in mind, it seems Horford might not be able to help the Warriors for a while due to a recent injury.

Al Horford Set To Miss Action Due to a Injuries

Horford is expected to miss time due to a hamstring strain, according to Steve Kerr on Sunday. Although the injury did not occur during live game action, the veteran began experiencing its effects following the Warriors’ matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Horford played 18 minutes against the Trail Blazers on Friday. He finished the game with seven points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

According to the Warriors’ 8:30 p.m. injury report, Horford was also listed as dealing with sciatica, specifically a right sciatic nerve irritation.

“It’s now listed as right sciatic nerve irritation for Al Horford. Steve Kerr told reporters he’d miss at least three games,” ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported. “Warriors frontcourt is beat up. Jonathan Kuminga remains out with knee tendinitis and Draymond Green is questionable vs Jazz with a mid-foot sprain.”

Team insider Monte Poole reported that the veteran big man is expected to miss one week of action.

With Kuminga still out and Draymond Green possibly missing some time on the court, what does this mean for the Warriors? Golden State is currently sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference with a 9-9 record.

The Warriors are on a three-game losing streak and are struggling to keep up with other contending teams in the West.

At the moment, the only players the Warriors can rely on consistently are Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. As expected, Curry remains the captain of this ship, leading the team with 28.6 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.

As for Butler, he is averaging 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.8 steals. While Moses Moody (12.3 points) and Brandin Podziemski (12.4 points) are also averaging double figures, the lack of a solid big man means the Warriors still need more firepower, especially with Kuminga sidelined.

Now, with Horford out and Green potentially missing time as well, securing the boards could become even more difficult for Golden State in the coming week.
