Michael Porter Jr. had the best season of his NBA career in 2025-26, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in his first year as a Brooklyn Net while shooting a ridiculous 59.5 percent true shooting.
Many thought he would be an All-Star, but that wasn’t the case. Now, nearly three months later, MPJ has a theory about why Adam Silver did not save him as an injury replacement, and it is one of the more entertaining stories to come out in a while.
Michael Porter Jr. Takes Shots at Adam Silver
He went on N3ON’s live stream recently and put the blame on a seven-year-old Snapchat mishap that apparently changed the course of his career.
“Because I leaked Adam Silver’s number. That’s my theory. You leaked Adam Silver’s number? Yeah. Back in the day, it was the Rookie Transition Camp in New York, and he was, they were going through like a slideshow presentation and I was on Snapchat. I accidentally took a Snapchat and like posted it to my story and it had his number in the background.”
Michael Porter Jr believes he has never made the All-Star team because he leaked Adam Silvers number
“I think when it was time for All Star voting he was salty. He picks the replacements.”

“I remember my sister swiped up on my story and was like, ‘Yo, you know you just leaked Adam Silver’s number.’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh snap.’ So I look at the Snapchat and it had like 500 screenshots. I was like… And then it was on Twitter, and then it had like 30 million views in like a few minutes. And he, so he had to change his number. Think about it. The president has his number, everybody has his number,” Porter said.
“So I’m thinking I’m about to get kicked out the league. And so I think when it was time for like All-Star voting, he’s probably a little salty because he picks the replacements. He does like, the coaches vote on the players. Yeah, then the players that were injured, Adam Silver picks the replacements,” Porter said.
The incident itself is genuinely one of the strangest stories in recent NBA history. It happened in 2019 at the Rookie Transition Program, an annual league event where new players are briefed on life in the NBA.
Porter, then just 21 years old, was half-paying attention to a slideshow presentation while scrolling on his phone and accidentally captured Silver’s personal cell number in the background of a Snapchat that went directly to his story. His sister caught it first. By the time he realized what had happened, it had already spread to Twitter and racked up tens of millions of views.
The league pulled him into an office, Silver had to change his number, and Porter was convinced his career was over before it started. He ended up having to walk onto a stage and apologize in front of the entire rookie class, which he called the most embarrassing moment of his life.
The 2026 All-Star Game, held in Miami in February, was the first to use the new USA vs. World format. With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined by injury, Silver had the authority to hand-pick a replacement from the Eastern Conference, and Porter was the most obvious candidate based on his numbers. But was snubbed in a bold move.
Other notable snubs on the U.S. side included James Harden, Paolo Banchero, and Desmond Bane. Porter, now 27 and finally healthy, was sitting on the most productive stretch of his career and watched it all from his couch. Silver’s reasoning was never made public. MPJ, apparently, assumed a reason himself.
