Is Aaron Gordon Playing Tonight? Latest Injury Update On Nuggets Star For Game 6 Clash vs. Timberwolves

Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon's calf injury leaves his status for Game 6 against the Minnesota Timberwolves unclear.

Denver Nuggets power forward Aaron Gordon remains a key part of the team on both sides of the ball. With the team facing a must-win tonight, Gordon’s presence would be a welcome sight.

As he continues to battle an injury, his teammates face another “win or go home” scenario against the Minnesota Timberwolves. An NBA insider provided an update regarding the veteran’s status.

Nuggets PF Aaron Gordon’s Game 6 Status Remains Uncertain Due to Leg Injury

After sitting out Game 5 of their opening-round series against Minnesota, Gordon’s prognosis remains nebulous throughout the week. As of this writing on April 30, the veteran may not play, according to ESPN reporter Anthony Slater.

“Nuggets injury update: Aaron Gordon is questionable for Game 6 tomorrow night in Minnesota. He’s missed two of the last three with a lingering calf issue. Tried to gut through it for 23 minutes in Game 4. Peyton Watson remains out with a hamstring strain,” Slater posted on X.

Slater mentioned Gordon’s attempt to play in the fourth game, despite the calf injury. In 23 minutes, he scored nine points on 36.4% shooting, adding one block and one rebound. The Nuggets lost the game by 16 points, widening their deficit to 3-1. In his absence, Denver defeated Minnesota 125-113 on Monday night.

Gordon’s absence could be considered both a help and a hindrance. For example, the Nuggets shoot 38.9% from the three-point line. While the forward does make 38.9% of his shots from beyond the arc, the spacing of the Nuggets’ offense helps them win the game.

Gordon can shoot, but he’s also known as a strong finisher at the rim. In his absence, the team could play with wider spacing. Nikola Jokic averaged a triple-double for the regular season, and the offense continues to run through him. Now, another Denver player will need to step up.

Spencer Jones, who started 37 games during the season, contributed 20 points in 37 minutes of play. While Jones isn’t the physical presence that Gordon is, he can fit into the small forward spot while Cameron Johnson moves from the wing to the power forward. As a result, point guard Jamal Murray can use the new spacing to attack the rim.

While Gordon may not play in Game 6, the Nuggets can still force a deciding Game 7 in his absence. However, Minnesota may possess worse injuries. Star guard Anthony Edwards will miss significant time due to a knee injury.

Additionally, Donte DiVincenzo ruptured his Achilles tendon, ending his season and depleting the Wolves’ scoring punch. Can Denver keep their season alive without Gordon?
