Former NBA 1st-Overall Pick Is Still A Free Agent

A former Philadelphia 76ers first-round pick is still available before the 2025-26 NBA season tips off.

The 2025-26 NBA season will tip off next week when the Houston Rockets visit the Oklahoma City Thunder (on October 21).

That said, there are still a lot of notable free agents who are available to be signed by any team in the league.

Come test your knowledge and see if you can guess the NBA player!
The NBA Player Guessing Game allows you to guess the NBA player based on clues about their team, division, height, jersey number, points, and experience.

Former Philadelphia 76ers 1st-Overall Pick Still Available:

One of those players is former Washington star Markelle Fultz.

The 27-year-old point guard is coming off a season where he briefly played for the Sacramento Kings.

He had averages of 2.9 points and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 41.8% from the field in 21 games.

Via Legion Hoops (on October 14): “The NBA regular season begins next week and I can’t believe these players still aren’t signed: Russell Westbrook Bol Bol Markieff Morris Ben Simmons Talen Horton-Tucker Cody Martin Kai Jones Victor Oladipo DeAndre Jordan Markelle Fultz Cory Joseph Mac McClung Damion Lee”

(Westbrook was signed by the Sacramento Kings earlier this week).

Fultz was the first pick in the 2017 NBA Draft after one season of college basketball.

He had been expected to become an All-Star.

In addition to the Kings and 76ers, Fultz has also spent time with the Orlando Magic.

His career averages are 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 47.0% from the field and 28.0% from the three-point range in 255 games.

Via Bleacher Report (in 2023): “2017: Traded for #1 pick, drafted Markelle Fultz over Jayson Tatum 2018: GM Twitter controversy 2019: Traded Jimmy Butler 2020: Fired coach, hired new coach then new GM 2021: Ben Simmons demands a trade 2022: Subject of NBA investigation 2023: James Harden demands a trade”

While Fultz is not a starting-caliber guard, he could be a good addition to the bench of a contender.

Some fans have mentioned the New York Knicks as a team who should look at signing him.

Via @sportyspicce: “The Knicks are definitely my man cause I’m upset, I say and do whatever because nah I lied I don’t want Victor O… if anything give me Markelle Fultz via free agency.”
