Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2024-25 season came to an unceremonious end after the Indiana Pacers beat them in 5 games in the first round of the playoffs.
Damian Lillard miraculously returned in Game 2 after missing 14 games due to a blood clot in his right calf. But it only got worse as Lillard ended up suffering a devastating Achilles tear in the first quarter of Game 4, throwing cold water on the Bucks’ hopes of winning the series.

The Bucks and Giannis are expected to meet later this week “to discuss both his future and the future plans of the team,” according to ESPN.
Depending on the outcome of this meeting, Antetokounmpo could find himself shopping for a new home this summer. With that in mind, here are the top five teams that are the best fits for the Bucks superstar.

1. Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are in dire need of a superstar-caliber player, and Antetokounmpo fits the bill. Houston has struggled this postseason during the clutch, putting the ball in Jalen Green’s hands.
Just imagine the defensive nightmare the Rockets would be with wing players like Amen Thompson, Antetokounmpo, Tari Eason, and Dillon Brooks. Good luck to opposing offenses if Houston figures a way to land the Greek Freak.
Antetokounmpo would surely help the Rockets on both ends of the floor. This season, Houston ranked 12th in offensive rating and 22nd in half-court offensive efficiency, numbers that should improve significantly with the ‘Greek Freak’ in town.
2. Brooklyn Nets
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst previously reported that the Brooklyn Nets plan on going “star searching” this offseason.
The Nets have a boatload of first-round picks at their disposal. Sean Marks and the rest of the Nets’ front office have done an exceptional hoarding those picks and keeping themselves in prime position for the right trade target. What better target than Giannis Antetokounmpo?
The Nets could end up with the No. 1 overall pick this summer and could dangle that along with future draft capital to bring him to Brooklyn if they decide they want to speed up the winning process, though Cooper Flagg could be too tempting a pick to turn down.
3. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder have amassed a plethora of draft picks and young talent, positioning them as a prime destination for a superstar like Antetokounmpo. Combining Giannis with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren could create a dynamic trio, with experience and youth.
Giannis’ rim-attacking, Holmgren’s floor-spacing, and SGA’s leadership and midrange game could elevate OKC beyond even this season’s 68-win performance. While it would likely mean parting ways with All-Star Jalen Williams, Oklahoma City’s depth and assets certainly make them an interesting option for both Antetokounmpo and the Bucks.

The Warriors have been linked with Antetokounmpo for ages. While it’s felt like a pipe dream for Dubs fans, there may not be a better time for this dream to come true with reports of the Bucks mulling over their future.
Golden State, to be clear, would not have the best trade package to offer. But it could formulate a compelling offer. Stephen Curry is untouchable, of course, but everyone else on the roster is fair game.

5. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers are known to bring superstar talents in their prime to Hollywood.
In February, L.A. sent the sports world into a frenzy by acquiring Luka Dončić from Dallas.
Right now, the Lakers have their two-headed monster in Luka and LeBron James. But with the Lakers in a first-round battle with the Minnesota Timberwolves that could see them start their offseason early, and James closer to retirement than ever, pairing Antetokounmpo with Luka would keep them in title contention for possibly the next decade.
