4-Time NBA All-Star Accuses Steve Kerr of Being the ‘Real Problem’ With Warriors

A four-time NBA All-Star weighs in head coach Steve Kerr being the problem for the inconsistent Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors haven’t been the same team in recent years after their championship victory in 2022. A lot of the team’s core players have either aged or left, while their head coach, Steve Kerr, has made questionable in-game decisions in the following seasons.

With that in mind, a four-time NBA All-Star believes that the Warriors’ head coach could be the reason behind the team’s struggles as of late.

A 4-Time NBA All-Star Blames Steve Kerr for Warriors’ Struggles This Season

Last season, the Warriors added Jimmy Butler to their roster via a four-team trade while jettisoning Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, Lindy Waters, and their 2025 first-round pick.

The acquisition of Butler was the team’s supposed solution to their struggles in recent years. Ever since Klay Thompson left for the Dallas Mavericks, Stephen Curry hasn’t come close to having the same caliber of backcourt partner Thompson was in his heyday.

However, the Warriors entered Jan. 5 play as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference with a 19-17 record. While this still puts them in a position to compete in the Play-In Tournament, the goal is to secure a playoff spot.

Some believe that the current Warriors roster isn’t efficient enough to compete with a stacked Western Conference. However, four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins believes that it’s Kerr who’s the real problem.

Cousins called out Kerr’s lack of confidence in his team. The multi-time All-Star doesn’t appreciate how the coach has the audacity to talk negatively about his players when everyone is doing their best to get back on track this season.

In Cousins’ opinion, Kerr’s comments are unbecoming of a coach and a locker room leader.

“I don’t like it one bit,” Cousins said about Kerr’s negative comments towards his team. “This doesn’t instill confidence in your locker room. To me, it actually shows who’s the real problem in this situation.

“You’re speaking down on your team, you’re not really instilling confidence in this group, there’s been problem after problem as far as development over the years, so it’s obvious why you’re kind of in this position that you’re in now with this group,” Cousins continued.

“This type of message, this type of energy, this type of lack of confidence in your group, it’s only going to spread within the rest of the guys,” Cousins added.

The Warriors are four games behind the sixth-place Minnesota Timberwolves (23-13). With 46 games remaining in their season, they still have plenty of time to catch up in the standings.

However, it’ll come down to whether Kerr can boost the team’s morale to perform better in the games to come.
