The first scare for the San Francisco 49ers occurred near the 11 minute mark of the fourth quarter, as Deebo Samuel went down with an injury.
What Happened to Deebo Samuel?
The 2021 All-Pro for the 49ers laid on his back after carrying multiple defenders.
Bobby Okereke was the last New York Giants defender to hit Samuel after fighting through three other N.Y. defenders. Okereke, though, slammed into the wide receiver’s back.

Samuel turned on his back and was briefly trying to catch his breath. Play stopped and an injury timeout was called.
Samuel ended up going to the 49ers’ medical tent for evaluation. But, per New York Daily News Sports columnist Pat Leonard, Samuel was able to walk under his own power.
“Deebo Samuel up and walking off after being down for a bit following that hard catch and run,” Leonard shared.
Did Samuel Manage to Return to the Field?
Samuel turned out to have the wind knocked out of him.
After being away from his teammates for nearly five minutes in the contest, the versatile wide receiver and running back managed to return to the huddle.
And, he ended up catching a 27-yard touchdown to officially seal the win and keep the 49ers unbeaten.
