NBA free agency is here, and it all started with trade fireworks. The Phoenix Suns stunned the league by sending Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and No. 10 pick Khaman Maluach, while the Boston Celtics jump-started its reset by moving Jrue Holiday to Portland and Kristaps Porziņģis to the Atlanta Hawks.
LeBron James accepted his $52.6 million option, James Harden re-upped for two years and $81 million, and Julius Randle secured a three-year, $100 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With the Oklahoma City Thunder now the team to catch, every transaction is measured against OKC’s standard. Clubs have until 12:01 p.m. ET on July 6 to turn verbal agreements into signed contracts, and coveted names such as Myles Turner and Jonathan Kuminga are still in play.
