Widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, Stephen Curry has revolutionized the sport. With over 4,000 career three-pointers made and the numbers continuing to climb, Curry has been the heart of the Golden State Warriors since his 2009 draft selection.
Curry has propelled the Warriors to four NBA championships over his 16-year career while earning MVP honors twice. He became the first unanimous MVP in 2016, and in 2022, he captured his first Finals MVP award.
The Warriors’ cornerstone has strong support from his father, Dell Curry, and brother, Seth Curry. Dell revealed in an exclusive interview with PFSN that he couldn’t be more proud of his sons and shared the advice he gives to parents who have NBA aspirations for their kid.

In an exclusive interview with PFSN, Dell, a former NBA stalwart known for his shooting skills with the Charlotte Hornets, opened up on the raw emotions about his son being a part of the game-changing show for the Golden State Warriors.
He highlighted that Stephen has never taken the game for granted and all the success that he has garnered over the years has been a result of his relentless hard work and humility.
“It makes me proud as a father to know how he changed the game, the impact that he had, his love for the game, his dedication, his discipline,” Dell told PFSN. “I see him work off the floor and then in the offseason when nobody’s watching – the fans just see the results of that hard work – and that’s what makes me the proudest.
“He does not take the game or his career for granted. He wants to get better every year. He’s already in the gym – he’s been in the gym as soon as he was healthy enough this summer. [He still wants] to get better. To be playing at the level that he is at 37 years old and having the mindset that he knows he could still win another title, that’s all [he wants]. I mean, he’s done everything in his career.
“His ultimate goal is to win another ring, and he’s striving to do that. It makes me proud, just to know how much he loved the game – growing up around it, watching his dad play for 16 years, going in the locker room and saying, ‘This is what I want to do,’ and then fulfilling that goal through hard work and dedication.”
Highlighting his own contributions, he said that while he had the resources to get him the best possible coaching and access, the majority of the work was done by Stephen himself.
“I spoke to some kids the other day and parents, they were like, ‘How’d you get your sons to the NBA?’ I’m like, ‘I didn’t do it!’ Parents, listen to me: If you think you can get your son or daughter to the level that you want ’em to get to, it’s not going to happen,” Dell said. “They have to have the ability, the dedication, the desire, and the work ethic to do it themselves.
“Of course, I had the resources to put some of the best trainers and coaches [around them] and myself to give them that knowledge, but just the mindset that they have, ‘This is what I want to do, and I know what it takes,’ and for them to do it makes me proud.”

Stephen’s crazy work ethic has him still playing at an extremely high level, even at the ripe age of 37. Very few players have been able to continue producing at a superstar-caliber level as they near 40 years old. LeBron James obviously comes to mind first when one talks about longevity in the NBA, but Curry deserves credit as well.
As Dell mentioned, as this stage in his career, Stephen is playing to add more ring to his collection. It remains to be seen if he’ll be able to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy one more time, but he’s doing everything in his power to put the Warriors in position to contend.
Last season, he averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game while maintaining his status as one of the league’s most impactful players.
