While there are rumors of Kevin Durant leaving the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker’s future remains intact. The former Kentucky guard has led the Suns for a decade, pushing them toward an NBA title. They came as close as the NBA Finals in 2021, but Giannis Antetokounmpo had other ideas. For Booker, though, he’s eligible for a supermax extension after spending 10 years with the franchise.
Keeping Durant or letting him go becomes the primary task for the Suns in the offseason. This year, they finished 11th in the Western Conference Finals and failed to impress the masses. The Suns scream for a rebuild with Booker at the helm. Therefore, if he agrees to a deal with his beloved franchise, he will earn more than Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry.

NBA Star Devin Booker’s Contract Extension Talks Are on the Cards
According to Spotrac, he’s under a four-year, $220 million contract, which fetches him an average annual salary of $55 million. By the 2027-28 season, he will earn over $61 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer on the Stein Line, he’s set for an extension as the Suns will offer him a two-year, $150 million deal.
REPORT: The Suns are expected to offer Devin Booker a 2-year, $150M extension, per @TheSteinLine.

By signing the agreement, Booker will bypass Curry and other NBA superstars to rake in a solid paycheck. Curry signed a veteran extension, and for the next season, he will earn over $62 million.
By 2027-28, Curry will be an unrestricted agent, and the Golden Boy of the Warriors will have a decision to make. But then, Booker will earn close to $70-75 million annually with the current reports, and the Suns look to rebuild another team around him.
The franchise has never won an NBA title in its storied history. With Booker heading to his prime years, they look to utilize the player’s ability. The Durant project didn’t pan out as well as they would have liked.
After making the NBA Finals in 2021, the Suns acquired Durant before the 2023 playoffs to make a solid push for the title. Well, the outcome of that is a story for another day.
Building a team around Booker might be the way forward for the Suns. He’s averaged 25.6 points per game, and his passing ability has earned him 7.1 assists, making him the team’s primary ball-handler.
Signing Bradley Beal didn’t work out well either, as the Suns look to offer Booker a massive contract and chase their dreams yet again. Hopefully, they crack the code this time around.
