Viral Stat Shows the Pacers Are 3 Wins Away From Completing Arguably the Toughest Path to a Title in NBA History

Pacers rally from historic deficits in 2025 playoffs, now three wins from title. Haliburton leads record-setting comeback run through toughest path.

The Indiana Pacers’ improbable surge through the 2025 NBA Playoffs has captivated fans and sparked viral conversations. A staggering stat making the rounds underscores the near-miraculous nature of their postseason—defined by constant adversity and relentless comebacks.

Indiana has repeatedly stared down steep deficits and emerged victorious, turning potential elimination into opportunity. This gritty resilience has become the team’s calling card. Now, just three wins separate the Pacers from an NBA championship, a feat that once seemed implausible. For Carlisle, star guard Tyrese Haliburton and the rest of the roster, that number is all that matters as they chase a historic title.

Only Three Wins Away: Pacers Defy Odds in Remarkable 2025 Playoff Push

With just three victories separating them from an NBA championship, the Indiana Pacers have authored one of the most improbable postseason runs in league history. Their path has been defined by unrelenting resilience—highlighted by five wins in games where they trailed by 15 or more points, an NBA record for a single postseason since 1997.

Todd Whitehead’s viral chart places the 2024–25 Pacers atop the list of toughest playoff paths since the NBA adopted the 16-win format, with a 7.2 average opponent win percentage and 7.3 net rating faced.

For Haliburton, head coach Rick Carlisle, and this battle-tested roster, three more wins could complete one of the NBA’s all-time great postseason journeys.

In Game 1 of the Finals, the Pacers erased a 15-point deficit in the final 10 minutes and won 111–110 on Tyrese Haliburton’s shot with 0.3 seconds left.

“With the growth and popularity of live betting, Indiana’s late-game comebacks are keeping bettors locked in until the final buzzer — regardless of the score,” said Johnny Avello, Director of Sports Operations at DraftKings.

The comeback trend began in the first round against Milwaukee. In Game 5, Indiana erased a 20-point hole, then delivered a wild overtime finish, closing on an 8–0 run in the final 40 seconds. ESPN’s win probability hit 0.5% at one point, while live odds ballooned to +4000 on FanDuel. Haliburton’s layup with 1.3 seconds remaining completed the rally.

In the second round, Indiana stunned Cleveland twice. Game 2 saw the Pacers overturn a 20-point deficit, with Haliburton drilling a game-winner after rebounding his own missed free throw. The lowest win probability stood at 1.9%. In Game 5, down 19 in the second quarter, Indiana surged to a 114–105 win to close the series.

Their most dramatic effort came in the conference finals. In Game 1 at Madison Square Garden, Indiana trailed the Knicks by 17 in the fourth quarter and 14 with under three minutes left. They rallied behind Aaron Nesmith’s trio of clutch threes and a Haliburton jumper that sent the game to overtime.
