Duolingo Savagely Roasts NBA Draft Prospect Johni Broome With Viral Overseas Joke After Awful Vertical Leap

After Johni Broome has one of the worst vertical leaps at the NBA draft combine, Duolingo makes a hilarious joke at his expense.

The NBA draft is fast approaching, and of course, the players are currently entrenched in the draft combine to showcase what they do in order to entice more teams to consider them. While some players have been able to reach high-levels, there are some still struggling to make their way through some tough hurdles.

On the other end, both Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper managed to impress scouts and teams with their sprint time, while some players were also impressive on their vertical leap.

As mentioned previously, there were some players who did not impress at the sprint time or the vertical leap. One player went viral for his unfortunate circumstances doing the vertical leap, and a very hilarious joke was given in response to his misfortune.

Duolingo Roasts Johni Broome After A Failed Vertical Leap

Oftentimes, in the NBA, when players are not good at something, there’s a long-running joke that the player will end up in China playing for the league overseas. It is a joke that is intended to embarrass the player who is having a terrible game or a terrible stretch.

Unfortunately for draft prospect Broome, he had a horrible showing at the vertical leap during the draft combine, going viral for one of the worst moments of the combine.

Following the disappointing vertical leap, Duolingo took part in the jokes that came after Broome’s unfortunate blunder. Using the China joke to roast Broome, Duolingo cut him deep with their dig, which was clever.

Despite the jokes, Broome, who shined at Auburn, is still a highly touted prospect for the draft. Whether or not the vertical leap impacts how teams see him remains to be seen, but Broome’s still a great candidate to play for an NBA team.

Broome’s Auburn Success

Broome was integral in Auburn’s successful season, averaging 18.6 points and 10.8 rebounds on 51% from the field en route to helping Auburn reach the Final Four before a tough loss to Florida.

Broome would have several impressive games during the March Madness tournament, finishing with 25 points and 14 rebounds in the Elite 8 game against Michigan State. He would also impress with a 22-point, 16-rebound night in the Sweet 16 against Michigan.

Will Broome’s blunder remain on the minds of the scouts by June when the draft takes place? That remains to be seen, but the scouts and organizations will likely key in more on how he played in the NCAA tournament rather than his lone combine blunder. Still, Duolingo didn’t miss an opportunity to enjoy some of the fun.
