NBA Playoffs: Lakers vs. Timberwolves Game 2 Injury Report, Predicted Lineups, and More

A look at the latest injury updates for the Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves ahead of Game 2 in the 2025 NBA playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers are staring down an early postseason crisis. After a humbling loss at home in Game 1, the purple and gold are desperate to flip the script as they prepare to host the Minnesota Timberwolves again for Game 2 of the NBA playoffs.

While it’s only the beginning of the series, the urgency is real since Game 1 wasn’t just a loss, it was a wake-up call, and the Lakers must now respond with force and focus.

Los Angeles Lakers Injury Report

The good news for the Lakers is that health isn’t their biggest concern heading into Game 2. The team has listed only one player (Maxi Kleber) as out, due to his ongoing recovery from right foot surgery. LeBron James, despite dealing with a nagging hip flexor strain, is not listed on the injury report and is expected to play.

Still, James’ physical limitations were noticeable in Game 1, where he scored just 19 points and managed five rebounds. That’s not the production the Lakers are used to relying on from their veteran leader, especially in a high-stakes playoff setting.

Meanwhile, Austin Reaves and company were clearly out of rhythm and outmatched physically. The Lakers dropped three straight quarters after winning the first 28-21, ultimately falling 117-95. If Los Angeles is to even the series, it will need stronger two-way performances, particularly on defense.

  • Lakers’ injured players: Maxi Kleber
  • Lakers’ healthy roster: Luka Dončić, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jordan Goodwin, Rui Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, Bronny James, LeBron James, Trey Jemison III, Dalton Knecht, Christian Koloko, Alex Len, Shake Milton, Markieff Morris, Austin Reaves, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Gabe Vincent.

Minnesota Timberwolves Injury Report

The Timberwolves enter Game 2 with momentum and health on their side. The only name on their injury report is Rob Dillingham, who remains sidelined with an ankle sprain. Beyond that, Minnesota is firing on all cylinders.

In Game 1, the Timberwolves put on a clinic from beyond the arc, shooting a remarkable 21-of-42 on 3-pointers. What’s more staggering is that 27 of those attempts were classified as wide open and 15 as open — not a single one came against tight defense. The Lakers’ inability to close out on shooters was glaring.

The Timberwolves have now won nine of their last 10 games, leaning on a high-powered offensive trio of Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert. Their rebounding dominance and offensive versatility allowed them to consistently exploit the Lakers’ defensive weaknesses.

  • Timberwolves injured players: Rob Dillingham
  • Timberwolves healthy roster: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jaylen Clark, Mike Conley, Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Edwards, Jesse Edwards, Luka Garza, Rudy Gobert, Bones Hyland, Joe Ingles, Jaden McDaniels, Leonard Miller, Josh Minott, Tristen Newton, Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and Terrence Shannon Jr.

Game 2 tips off Tuesday, April 22, at Crypto.com Arena. With both teams largely healthy, all eyes will be on the Lakers to see if they can make the necessary adjustments or if Minnesota continues its commanding playoff run.
