Stephen Curry Relationship Timeline: Iconic Moments From Warriors Star and Wife Ayesha Curry’s Life

Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry went from church friends to soulmates — awkward kisses, chai dates, and a second chance turned into a beautiful family of six.

You’re gonna love this one. It’s got all the good stuff — missed signals, surprise reunions, and a whole lot of heart. Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry’s story didn’t start with sparks flying. It started with hesitation, humor, and a kiss that didn’t land.

Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry Met Each Other When They Were Kids

It’s been more than a decade since Stephen and Ayesha got married, but their love story began when they were kids. They met each other when the basketball star was 15 and she was 14. The couple first met when they used to go to the same church in Charlotte, N.C. At that time, Ayesha wasn’t interested in dating athletes, and Stephen was focused on his budding basketball career.

During a chat with People magazine, she said, “We were just kids. He was the cute boy at church that all of the girls were obsessed with, so I made a generalization that maybe he wasn’t for me.” When asked about this, Stephen said, “I don’t remember the exact first day I saw her. There was no wind blowing in her face with a backlight.”

Things started to get romantic for the couple when Stephen travelled to Los Angeles for the ESPY Awards in 2008 and spent a day with Ayesha, who was trying to find her feet in the world of acting. Speaking about what impressed her on her first date, the actor said, per People magazine, “He was so funny and silly. The absolute opposite of what I thought he was going to be.”

Ayesha shared how their first kiss went in an interview with Parents magazine. “I mean, it was friend vibes … until I dodged his first kiss,” Ayesha said. “He was in mid-conversation and came flying at my face like a thief in the night. So I was like, No. Then I thought, ‘Oh, I didn’t know this is what was happening.’”

The four-time NBA champion proposed to his partner in July 2010 in the driveway of her parents’ house. While describing the scene, Stephen said via Kai Green of Parade, “The plan was to act like we were going to a family cookout. So we pulled up to the house, and I stopped in the middle of the driveway, got down on my knee, and went into my spiel. Little did I know the whole family was looking out the window, videotaping the moment.”

The couple got married on July 30, 2011, at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte. They exchanged vows in a ceremony attended by approximately 400 guests, including close family and friends.

Stephen and Ayesha Are Parents to 4 Kids

Stephen and Ayesha are parents to four children, and their first child, a daughter, Riley Elizabeth Curry, was born on July 19, 2012. She first came into the spotlight when she attended a post-game press conference with her dad in 2015. She was yawning during that press conference and even said, “You are too loud, daddy,” during that appearance in front of the cameras.

The couple welcomed their second daughter, Ryan Carson Curry, who was born on July 10, 2015. The 11-time All-Star shared the news on Instagram and said, “I’m wayyyyy up I feel Blessed! God is Great. Thanks to the doctors and staff at Alta Bates for taking care of my girls, especially Dr. Poddatori. Healthy baby and Ayesha is all I prayed for.”

Their third child, a son named Canon W. Jack Curry, was born on July 2, 2018. During a chat with People magazine, Ayesha spoke about her son’s unique name.

“We had his name picked out [during their honeymoon] and then we had another girl’s name picked out that we didn’t end up using for Riley, but Canon always stuck with us. France is one of our favorite places to vacation, and so his name’s actually French and it means young wolf, which Stephen loved because we kind of consider ourselves a wolf pack.”

The star couple’s youngest son, Caius Chai Curry, was born on May 11, 2024. They shared the news on Instagram two weeks after the birth of the child and said, “Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!! He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”
