Stephen Curry is entering a new chapter of his sneaker career after making the high-profile move to Li-Ning. The Golden State Warriors superstar’s several branded player-exclusive sneakers are set for a limited retail release, triggering reactions from the NBA community.

Li-Ning revealed details of Curry’s first China tour since he joined the brand in June this year, signing a 10-year, $400 million endorsement contract.
The Warriors superstar is scheduled to visit China from September 9 through September 14, but the four-time champion will not be making the trip empty-handed.
Along with the tour announcement, Li-Ning has unveiled several player-exclusive (PE) sneakers featuring Curry’s signature logo.

The initial collection includes pairs from the Way of Wade 12 and Jimmy Butler 4 lines, with both models receiving updates that incorporate Curry’s newly redesigned branding.
The releases provide an early glimpse at how Curry’s identity will be integrated into Li-Ning’s existing performance basketball lineup.
Curry’s branding is visible across the sneakers, but the first look has not exactly impressed fans.

The collection features four different Way of Wade 12 colorways, with simple monochromatic designs in black, white, pale pink, and teal.
Meanwhile, the Jimmy Butler 4 features a predominantly black color scheme, and that design is reportedly connected to Butler’s “Batman” comparison for the Golden State Warriors’ roster.
The sneakers arrive during a transitional period in Curry’s branding after his high-profile departure from Under Armour. He left Nike for Under Armour in 2013 and eventually built one of the most recognizable signature sneaker lines in basketball.

While the sneaker debate continues, Curry’s future with the Warriors remains another big storyline heading into the upcoming season.
Entering the final year of his current contract, the team has reaffirmed its belief in Curry being the centerpiece of the franchise.
