‘I’m Still Processing’ — 76ers Star Jaylen Brown Admits He’s Dealt With ‘A Lot of Emotions’ Since Surprise Celtics Trade

New 76ers star Jaylen Brown shared candid insights regarding his feelings on the Boston Celtics trading him in one of the NBA's biggest stories this summer

The Philadelphia 76ers enter the upcoming NBA season as a championship favorite in the eyes of many analysts. The organization essentially won the off-season this summer, with several notable moves, including acquiring All-NBA wing Jaylen Brown. Brown recently shared insight into his thoughts as he continues adjusting to a new environment.

New 76ers Star Jaylen Brown Admits He’s Still Processing Trade Away From Boston

At his introductory press conference with the 76ers, Brown admitted he’s still dealing with the emotions of leaving the Boston Celtics. Brown said, “It’s been a lot of emotions, you know what I mean? It’s been a process. To be honest, I’m still processing to some degree. The excitement of coming to a new city, new expectations. Then also, leaving somewhere that you’ve been for a very long time.”

It’s essentially human nature that Brown is processing his exit from the Celtics organization, a place where Brown says he grew up as a person. He met the expectations as a top draft pick, helping the Celtics win a championship in 2024, while also being named Finals MVP.

However, he’s consistently been mentioned in trade rumors the last several for a variety of reasons. There’s constant speculation about Brown’s personal life and his relatively outspoken nature on some social issues.

Other rumors pointed to the Celtics eventually trading Brown for basketball reasons, as they felt the organization would eventually have to make a choice between Brown and fellow All-NBA star Jayson Tatum. Brown had the best season of his career last season with Tatum working his way back from a serious injury.

However, some league analysts believed Brown was overrated when looking at analytics, and the Celtics will be a better team without him. Brown may use all of the constant rumors and speculation to help him win another championship in Philadelphia.

While Brown looks to turn the page, he’s joining one of the intriguing teams in recent league history. The 76ers also signed icon LeBron James this summer for potentially his last chapter, as he looks to win another championship and cement his belief that he is the greatest player of all-time.

The 76ers also have started a passing of the torch with MVP Award winner Joel Embiid entering the final stretch of his prime while Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe become the organization’s new cornerstone players.

Brown is likely entering the upcoming season with a massive chip on his shoulder, which could be great news for 76ers fans and terrifying news for the rest of the league.
