After letting it be known that he intends to leave the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James is the talk of NBA free agency. He’s been linked to a handful of teams, but as the days have gone by, some landing spots have stuck out more than others, like the ones mentioned on his agent Rich Paul’s whiteboard.
As you can imagine, this drawn-out free-agency decision has given more time for teams to recruit the future first-ballot Hall of Famer. While some of those recruiting pitches have taken place in front of the public eye, surely others are privately bending James’ ear.
Meanwhile, one of the biggest unanswered questions regarding the former Lakers star’s free agency is whether he’ll make any visits. Now we know the answer.
LeBron James Not Expected to Visit Teams Before Free-Agency Decision
While James could certainly use this rare opportunity to be wined and dined by his various suitors (and he loves wine), that doesn’t seem to be in the cards this summer.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, James won’t be taking any free-agency visits before signing a new contract this offseason. Or at least, there aren’t any meet-ups on the docket yet.
“As of right now, there are no plans for LeBron to engage in any meetings to allow teams to pitch him on the idea of coming to their prospective teams,” Haynes reported Monday on NBA TV.
“What I am told is that his agent, Rich Paul, is doing all the background work, he’s talking with teams, and then, in return, he will relay all the intel and data to LeBron James, in which LeBron will make a decision.”

After 23 years in the league, James is kicking back and deferring to his agent on this one. Being that he places so much trust in Paul and his support staff, James’ stance doesn’t come as a huge surprise to most, yet that won’t prevent teams from trying to get him in their facilities anyway.
Any salesperson will tell you the goal is to get in front of the client. Once you get one yes, it’s a lot easier for more wins to pile up, right to the dotted line, though this isn’t James and his agent’s first rodeo.
