Shockwaves were sent throughout the NBA world after the Boston Celtics dealt 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks.
Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green was among those who weighed in, and certainly didn’t hold back while discussing the blockbuster move.

During Friday’s episode of The Draymond Green Show, the four-time NBA champion opened by discussing the blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, offering a brutally honest assessment of the deal.
“No disrespect to Paul George, but this isn’t an even swap, if I’m Jayson Tatum, I’m livid because regardless of what anyone says, we all know the player that Jaylen Brown is and you gonna send this dude to the same division as me with a chip on his shoulder and I gotta play this man 4 times a year?… but my guy Bob (Myers) strikes again,” Green said.

This past year, during his age-29 season, Brown averaged a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists across 71 regular-season games. Notably, he led the Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, earned All-NBA Second Team honors, and finished sixth in MVP voting.
Comparatively, George, who recently turned 36, appeared in just 37 regular-season games due to a lingering knee injury and a 25-game suspension for violating the league’s anti-drug program. Across those 37 appearances, the veteran forward averaged 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
Based on consistency, production, and overall postseason success in recent years, Brown has clearly set himself apart from George as the more valuable player. Unfortunately for Tatum and Celtics Nation, Boston’s front office didn’t see it that way.
Additionally, as Green mentioned, with Boston and Philadelphia in the same division, they will face Brown four times a year, not including a potential playoff matchup. Undoubtedly, the former Celtics superstar will be seeking revenge.
