This week brought a major shock around the NBA after reports surfaced that the Golden State Warriors could pursue both Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Washington Wizards big man Anthony Davis.
If the move is successful, the Warriors’ roster would be loaded with talent, and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg had a hilarious but blunt reaction to the discussion.
Yaxel Lendeborg Reacts to Warriors’ Rumored Pursuit of LeBron James and Anthony Davis
On Monday, Lendeborg spoke with reporters about his first practice with the Warriors’ summer league squad and his goals.
Rather than relying only on the strengths that made him successful in college, the rookie is focused on finding different ways to make an impact on the floor.
Still soaking in the glory of being selected in the first round of the 2026 draft, Lendeborg also found himself caught up in the growing speculation around the franchise’s reported pursuit of James and Davis.
He said that his phone has been buzzing nonstop, with friends repeatedly asking how he would fit alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, James, and Davis if the blockbuster scenario became reality.
Such a roster would feature an incredible blend of championship experience, elite defense, and high-powered offense.
Lendeborg was excited about potentially pairing up with the NBA’s two icons, but also doesn’t want to be the scapegoat in the potential blockbuster deals.
“I’m excited to see how it plays out,” Lendeborg said. “Hopefully, I don’t get the back end of that and get traded. Hopefully, I can stick around to see how that goes.”

With a prolific athletic profile in his bag, James’ list of potential destinations reportedly includes the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Warriors, or the Miami Heat.
NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that James and the Los Angeles Lakers have not yet discussed his future, but those conversations are expected to take place with Golden State positioning itself as a serious landing spot.
James reportedly would only consider committing to the Warriors if Davis were on the roster.
Golden State would need to create additional salary-cap flexibility to pull off both moves. NBA salary-cap expert Yossi Gozlan recently broke down one possible path following the Kristaps Porzingis extension and De’Anthony Melton’s expected opt-out.
“They would presumably swap Jimmy Butler and picks for Davis. Then they could fit James with $15 million non-taxpayer mid-level under the first apron hard cap IF Draymond Green takes the same contract as Porzingis, and IF they also find a taker for Moses Moody,” Gozlan posted
However, veteran NBA reporter Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reported that the Wizards have little interest in taking on Butler because of his ACL injury, which is expected to sideline him for much of the 2026–27 season.
If that remains the case, Golden State may need to involve a third team to complete a trade for Davis successfully.
