‘Honestly Insane,’ ‘Needs Therapy’ – NBA World Reacts to Victor Wembanyama’s Ugly Elbow On Timberwolves’ Naz Reid

After seeing the San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama get a Flagrant 2 foul and ejection on Sunday, the NBA world had some thoughts.

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama earned an early trip to the locker room on Sunday as he picked up a Flagrant 2 foul against the Minnesota Timberwolves in an NBA Western Conference playoff game.

Wembanyama was battling for the ball with Naz Reid of Minnesota when he struck Reid in the face with his right elbow. Wembanyama could be seen on video looking to his right before throwing the elbow. The video was reviewed, and it was determined that he’d committed a Flagrant 2 foul.

Victor Wembanyama’s Flagrant 2 Call Draws NBA World’s Thoughts

Cameras caught Wembanyama asking a teammate what does the Flagrant 2 foul mean. When the teammate told him that he was ejected, Wembanyama nodded his head, got up from the sidelines, and headed to the Spurs’ locker room.

While watching the action, there were plenty of reactions online from the NBA world to what happened.

Underdog NBA’s account on X posted a video clip from Peacock’s coverage of the Spurs-Timberwolves playoff game from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The account wrote, “Status alert: Victor Wembanyama has been ejected Sunday after being assessed a Flagrant 2 foul.”

Joe Dellera, who writes about the NBA for Action Network, posted on X, “This is honestly insane.”

One influencer also reposted the clip of Wembanyama committing the Flagrant 2 foul and posted on X: “Dude needs Therapy.”

Orlando Magic HQ’s account on X posted a pointed comment about what the NBA did to Wembanyama: “Woah… The NBAs Golden Boy has been ejected.”

One influencer noted what Wembanyama did to Reid on the court. The influencer posted on X, “The pause and then swinging the elbow kinda crazy.”

Another influencer took aim at Wembanyama’s on-court performance on Sunday. The influencer posted on X: “Clown play from Victor Wembanyama.”

Wembanyama has definitely provided the Spurs with stellar play on offense and defense. He’s been able to block numerous Timberwolves shots during this series.

Now, though, all Wembanyama can do for the rest of Sunday’s game is to watch it on TV from the Spurs’ locker room. Once he left the game, the Timberwolves took advantage, moved ahead of the Spurs, and held a halftime lead.

The Timberwolves walked away with a 114-109 win, thanks to an impressive 36-point performance from Anthony Edwards. De’Aaron Fox was the standout player for the Spurs, with 24 points on the board. Wembanyama didn’t make an impact in the 12 minutes he was on the floor, putting up only 4 points.

It will be interesting to hear what Wembanyama says after Sunday’s game regarding his actions.
