The Minnesota Timberwolves are sweating over the availability of guard Ayo Dosunmu ahead of their Game 2 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Dosunmu missed the first game of the series while battling a calf injury, but the Timberwolves managed to pull off a gritty 104-102 win over the Spurs at the Frost Bank Center. Now, all eyes are on their midseason acquisition as the Wolves look to go 2-0.

Ayo Dosunmu Injury Update: Will the Timberwolves Guard Play in Game 2 vs. the Spurs?
Dosunmu is officially listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup due to his calf injury. Anthony Edwards is also listed as questionable as he deals with his hyperextended knee and bone bruise.
Edwards played Game 1, finishing with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in just over 25 minutes of time on the floor. Dosunmu missed Game 1 against the Spurs as well as Game 6 against the Denver Nuggets in the first round.
Dosunmu will likely be a game-time decision, so be sure to check back closer to tipoff for an update on his status.
With the possibility of calf soreness elevating to an Achilles issue, the Timberwolves will be cautious with Dosunmu. Whether he plays likely depends on how he feels and moves during pregame warmups ahead of Game 2.
The Timberwolves would love to get Dosunmu back in their lineup, as he has emerged as a key piece on both ends of the floor. He played a pivotal role in Minnesota’s first-round series win over the Nuggets, averaging 21.8 points while shooting 60.9% from the field and 54.5% from the 3-point line in five postseason games.
In Game against Denver, Dosunmu exploded for 43 points, which stunned Julius Randle.
“I didn’t know he was that damn good,” Randle said. “I don’t remember playing against him as much. I feel like when I was in the East, and he was with Chicago, that was the DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine teams. … I don’t know if the opportunity was there as much. But damn, I’m glad we got him.”
Dosunmu’s presence would give Minnesota another scorer and shooter, while also taking some of the scoring load off of Randle and Edwards. Minnesota already stole Game 1 from San Antonio, and they’ll be looking to take a 2-0 lead at the Frost Bank Center tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET.
