Patrick Beverley Fires Off Surprising Claim That He Shot 3s ‘Way Better’ Than Dwyane Wade

Patrick Beverley fired back at Dwyane Wade online, claiming he shot "way better" to escalate their James Harden debate.

Patrick Beverley responded to Dwyane Wade dismissing the claim that James Harden is the better player, a point the former Houston Rockets guard mentioned on his podcast. Harden and Wade have often been compared due to their playmaking ability at the shooting guard position, but Beverley listed the differences between the two players.

Patrick Beverley’s Sharp Response to Dwyane Wade’s James Harden Claims

Beverley, who played with the Rockets and other top teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Chicago Bulls, continues his career in the Greek Basket League. Also a podcaster, he often weighs in on basketball-related content on his eponymous podcast, “The Pat Bev Show.”

In a recent episode, he compared his former Rockets teammate Harden to the legendary Wade to determine who is the “better” player, as both are considered among the league’s most successful shooting guards.

Beverley reasoned that while he has been a fan of Wade throughout his career and has admired his playing style, especially his clutch ability, he ultimately sided with Harden, calling him the “better player” without mincing words.

“I’m from Chicago. I love Dwyane Wade, obviously, right? So I f*** with D-Wade like that, that’s the homie. But when it comes to a player, you’re talking about a player that can score, get to the free-throw line, and pass out of the pick-and-roll. Does D-Wade have clutch in him? You’re absolutely right, yes. At times, have we seen D-Wade be more clutch than James Harden? Yes, we have. But when you talk about a better player, James Harden is a better player than Dwyane Wade.”

He further added that Wade has been a title winner, but it’s a team award, whereas Harden is of a higher caliber individually.

Responding to the claim, Wade, who shared the court with Beverley in a couple of games, clarified that the latter had seen only a part of him and not his full wrath. He added that he was one of the best, with a career in the top 75 despite multiple injury layoffs.

“You experienced a portion of my game, when I was winning championships, you weren’t even around. You didn’t get to feel the wrath. My career was hit by injuries and I still had a top 75 career. You don’t know the wrath of me as a player, you know a portion, and you still couldn’t f*ck with me then.”

Beverley was not one to stay put. He had a comeback up his alley and broke down the stat lines of both himself and Wade, writing:

“Damn Flash Rent-Free, Truth is the Truth And u was WRONG, I shoot the 3 way better than you. Our career 3 point percentages weren’t even close D Wade shot a measly 29.3 from 3 Pat Bev shot 37.1 7-3 record against you also LuvGang.”

Harden, who now plays with the Cleveland Cavaliers, was riding on a four-game win streak when the Miami Heat got the better of him and his squad. However, the Cavaliers bounced back with a blowout win, avenging their loss to Miami. They’re expected to make a deep run in the 2026 playoffs.
