Imagine you are watching a superhero movie. At every moment, the superhero is winning against the villains without breaking a sweat. How would it feel watching that movie? Kind of monotonous, right?
Well, that same sentiment was recently shared by Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault. But not as a complaint. It was actually one of the best compliments a coach can give a player.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Gets Unique Compliment From Thunder Head Coach Mark Daigneault
After the latest win against the Washington Wizards on Saturday night, the head coach of the Thunder was asked during the postgame press conference what it’s like to watch Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deliver consistent performances night after night. Daigneault’s answer caught everyone off guard.
“Boring. It’s the same every night,” said Daigneault during the interview.
What Daigneault was really pointing at is how predictable and reliable Gilgeous-Alexander has become. When a player performs at such a high level every single game, it almost feels routine.
Honestly, where that expression is coming from is easy to understand. Over the last 10 games, Gilgeous-Alexander has been averaging 30.9 points, 7.6 assists, and 4.4 rebounds. In most of those games, he has scored over 25 points.
At this point, it almost feels expected. The moment he steps onto the court, you just know he’s going to deliver.
The latest game against the Wizards was another perfect example. Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 40 points in just 32 minutes, shooting 17-of-27 from the field. It wasn’t just the numbers, but it was how effortlessly he controlled the game.

Looking at the game itself, it didn’t start as a blowout. The first quarter ended with both teams tied at 32-32, showing that the Wizards were ready to compete. But as the game went on, the Thunder slowly found their rhythm. By halftime, they had built a small 5-point lead.
Then came the second half, where things really shifted. The Thunder stepped up on both ends of the floor and scored a total of 63 points after the break. That offensive push was simply too much for the Wizards to handle, and they lost the game 132-111.
Now, the Thunder will shift focus to their next game against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 23. It will be interesting to see how Gilgeous-Alexander will perform against them. Although, based on recent form, expecting anything less than excellence would be ignoring everything we have seen so far.
