LeBron James ‘Definitely Rooting’ for Son Bryce James’ Arizona Ahead of March Madness

LeBron James shared his pride in son Bryce James after Arizona secured the Big 12 Tournament title and a No. 1 seed in March Madness.

LeBron James has four championship rings and many other pieces of hardware. The James family added another piece of hardware to their collection after Bryce James and the University of Arizona Wildcats secured the Big 12 Tournament title.

LeBron James Shows Unwavering Support for Bryce James and the Arizona Wildcats

The Wildcats defeated the University of Houston Cougars, 79-74, on March 14 to win the Big 12 championship. The win propelled them to the No. 1 seed in the West bracket. March Madness tips off this week, with the First Four matchups starting on March 17, and Arizona takes on the No. 16-seeded Long Island University Sharks on March 20.

After the Lakers took down the Houston Rockets, 100-92, on March 16, reporter Chancellor Johnson asked LeBron about what it means to have his son experiencing team success at the college level.

“That’s a perfect last question. To have our kid be able to experience that, to see the joy on his face, the happiness that he has … learning from a lot of the vets and learning from some of the guys he came in with, I think it’s a great experience, and it’s going to pay dividends going into next year, but he’s just living in the moment,” James replied.

Bryce redshirted his first year with the Wildcats to preserve a year of eligibility. This means he will play zero games this season but will remain on the roster. The 18-year-old developed skills and practiced with the team throughout the 2025-26 campaign. Redshirts often end up with a five-year college career.

Freshmen Koa Peat and Brayden Burries likely leave Arizona for the 2026 NBA Draft, giving Bryce opportunities to take some of their minutes next season. However, before that happens, the Wildcats have the NCAA title on their minds. LeBron will certainly be rooting for his son’s squad.

“To see the success that they’re having and him enjoying that … I always say, ‘the best teacher in life is experience …’ My son is there, so I’m definitely rooting for them in the tournament, and we’ll see what happens,” the Lakers superstar said.

Could LeBron Play with Bryce in the NBA?

LeBron wanted to play with Bronny James on the same team in the NBA. They became the first father-son duo in league history to share the floor last season. Could LeBron extend his career long enough to play with Bryce? The 22-time All-Star gave an open-ended answer to this question.

“I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see. That would be pretty cool. It’s all about my mind and then seeing how my body reacts over these next couple of years,” the future Hall of Famer said.
