LeBron James weighed in on how Coby White could make a major difference for the Charlotte Hornets.
White was one of the major names dealt by the Chicago Bulls ahead of the trade deadline. The guard and veteran Mike Conley were traded to the Hornets for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, and two second-round picks.

Speaking on his ‘Mind the Game‘ podcast with co-host Steve Nash, LeBron James discussed how the $ 36,000,000 White can make a difference for the Hornets.
“I don’t know if it’s a Laker thing once again, like when guys play against us. But Coby (White) is one of those guys; when he sees us, he’s like, he doesn’t miss. He gives them another ball-handler, another pick-and-roll player, another stretch guy that can shoot the ball. The way they are playing, they are one of the hottest teams in the league, along with the Clippers, over the last month. It gives them another dynamic piece.”
With a calf injury limiting him to just 29 games this season, White averaged 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 43.8% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point line.
White spent his entire seven-year NBA career in the Windy City before the trade to Charlotte. In what comes as a dampener for the Hornets, there is no timetable on the guard’s return, making the wait to lace up for his new team a bit longer.
Earlier, Hornets head coach Charles Lee offered an update on the team’s latest acquisition. “There’s no real timeline right now,” Lee told the media on Wednesday, via DaShawn Brown of WSOC-TV.
“The All-Star break was very beneficial for him to be able to proceed with his rehab plan. He’s taken some really good positive steps, and he’s trending in the right direction.”
With White in the mix, the Hornets have another scoring guard capable of knocking down timely shots from deep. He will keep the offense churning in the non-LaMelo Ball minutes, which was a major issue for the Hornets before adding him to the fold.
The Hornets saw a massive jump in their standings ahead of the All-Star break, winning nine of their ten games. At the time of writing, they are ninth in the East with a 26-29 record.
Charlotte starts proceedings with a two-game homestand against the Houston Rockets on Thursday (Feb. 19) and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They later hit the road for a three-game away trip against the Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls, and the Indiana Pacers
