NBA World Reacts To Dallas Mavericks Kyrie Irving Announcement

The Dallas Mavericks made an announcement about Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie Irving is coming off a season where he was an extremely productive member of the Dallas Mavericks.

The former Duke star had averages of 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field and 40.1% from three-point range in 50 games.

However, Irving has yet to appear in a game so far this season.

Dallas Mavericks Announce Kyrie Irving News

On Wednesday, the Mavs made a major announcement about Irving.

Via Mavs PR: “The Dallas Mavericks announced today that guard Kyrie Irving will not return to play during the 2025-26 NBA season as he continues his recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery performed in 2025.”

Irving was the first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft after one season of college basketball.

His career averages are 23.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 47.4% from the field and 39.4% from three-point range in 779 games.

The Mavs are currently the 12th seed in the Western Conference with a 19-35 record in 54 games.

They are in the middle of a nine-game losing streak.

Following the All-Star break, the Mavs will resume action when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

The Mavs are currently building around rookie sensation Cooper Flagg.

He was the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Duke.
