Here’s what people were saying about the deal:

Keith Smith: “The Celtics are now one move from getting out of the luxury tax entirely. Keep an eye on a Xavier Tillman Sr. move. Boston has added center depth with Nikola Vucevic and converting Amari Williams to a standard contract.”

@tmofficially: “Brad Stevens is officially prioritizing the luxury tax over actual winning depth. Trading Josh Minott for absolutely nothing other than a roster spot is a joke for a team that is supposedly a contender. Minott was actually shooting a career-high 44% from deep in limited minutes this season. You don’t just toss away a 6’8” wing who can hit shots unless the front office is terrified of the repeater tax. This isn’t a basketball move; it’s a spreadsheet move.”

Noa Dalzell: “Wow — last night was Josh Minott’s final game with the Celtics”

@_JakeSeymour: “Josh Minott appeared to have found a spot in the Celtics’ lineup early this season, but he quickly slid down the bench while suffering from injuries. In Boston, he played in 33 games, only five of which occurred since Christmas.”

Minott was the 45th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Memphis.

He has also spent time playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves over four NBA seasons.

His career averages are 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 49.7% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range in 126 games.

Right now, the Celtics are the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 33-18 record in 51 games.

They are in the middle of a four-game winning streak.

Last season, the Celtics lost to the New York Knicks in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.
