Giannis Antetokounmpo Makes Personal Announcement After Bucks’ Decision to Keep Him Beyond Trade Deadline

With Giannis Antetokounmpo staying in Milwaukee beyond the trade deadline, he has made a personal announcement on his Instagram page.

All the talk surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo has been about where the ‘Greek Freak’ will end up for the rest of the NBA season.

However, the Milwaukee Bucks have squashed all of that, announcing he will be staying with them beyond the trade deadline, per ESPN.

What Was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Personal Announcement About Staying With the Bucks?

With Antetokounmpo staying put for at least the rest of the season, the ‘Greek Freak’ has made a personal announcement ahead of the All-Star game.

Via his Instagram account, Antetokounmpo has revealed his new Nike Freak 7 LX, which he will debut at the All-Star game in Los Angeles, California.

The new sneakers are made for “post destruction” and are described as a “high frequency of opponents tossed up out of the paint. Physical dominance and a relentless force may lead to graphic posterizations, or shots blocked into row 12.”

The Greek sensation is one of a small number of players to reach 10 All-Star appearances, as he continues to dominate the NBA.

Towards the end of the trade deadline, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat were all aggressively pursuing his services.

However, Antetokounmpo will be representing the city of Milwaukee for the 10th time in his All-Star career, and this time around with some sparkling footwear.

The ‘Greek Freak’ joins Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Sabrina Ionescu, and A’ja Wilson to have special All-Star-themed kicks.

The shoe has a bright Volt colourway, with the mesh base subtly peppered with Giannis’ logo. The sneaker is a more standout version of the current Freak 7.

Will Antetokounmpo be allowed to wear these sneakers at the All-Star game or at all during the rest of the season?

Per ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, he believes the Bucks may shut down Antetokounmpo for the rest of the year to get a better pick in the draft and reduce his chances of getting injured.

As of now, Antetokounmpo remains a Milwaukee Bucks player, but we may not see him in the NBA until he’s playing for a new team.

This season, Antetokounmpo has still been one of the best two-way players in the league, averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.6 assists for the season.

The Buck’s legend is still looking to add to his NBA Championship in 2021 after beating the Phoenix Suns in six games and picking up the Finals MVP.

Each team interested in Antetokounmpo proposed blockbuster deals to acquire his services, but none tickled the fancy of the Milwaukee front office.

Antetokounmpo has always preached his loyalty to the franchise that took a chance on a skinny kid in the 2013 draft, and it looks as though he is staying there until at least the summer.
