BREAKING: Warriors Trade Away Jonathan Kuminga To Surprise Eastern Conference Team for $60M Star

The Golden State Warriors' have made the decision to trade away Jonathan Kuminga just hours before the NBA trade deadline.

The Golden State Warriors have made their move ahead of the trade deadline, sending Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to an Eastern Conference team. In return, they have received a 60$ million star averaging 17.1 PPG this season.

The Warriors were previously mentioned to be in the sweepstakes for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, following this trade, they may have given up on landing the two-time MVP after sending away one of their most valuable trade assets.

BREAKING: Warriors Trade Away Jonathan Kuminga To Surprise Eastern Conference Team

Following a recent report from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Golden State Warriors traded Kuminga and Hield to the Atlanta Hawks. In exchange, they received $60 million star Kristaps Porzingis.

“BREAKING: The Golden State Warriors are trading Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis, sources tell ESPN,” Charania revealed in his report. This announcement comes just a couple of hours before the NBA trade deadline.

Hield, who was also a part of the trade, has averaged eight points, a career low, and 2.5 rebounds per game this season for the Warriors. The Warriors’ guard is currently on a four-year, $37.75 million deal.

This season, Porzingis is set to make $30.7 million in the final year of a two-year, $60 million contract he signed in Boston. This summer, as it looked to cut salary, the Celtics traded Porzingis to the Hawks in a three-team deal with Brooklyn.

After holding out for the Summer, Kuminga eventually agreed to a two-year, $48.5 million contract to return to the Golden State Warriors. However, after being relegated to the bench, the $48.5 million star made the decision to request a trade.

NBA insider Sam Amick initially reported that the only way Kuminga would depart the Warriors would be in a potential deal for Antetokounmpo. However, following this trade, it appears that the Warriors are out on the two-time MVP, excluding any blockbuster moves.

“Kuminga was central to any in-season Giannis trade offer … all but confirming Golden State is out of contention for Antetokounmpo before Thursday’s 3 PM ET trade buzzer.” NBA insider Marc Stein revealed the following trade.

On top of trading away Kuminga and Hield, the Warriors also traded center Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for a 2026 second-round draft pick, according to a report for ESPN’s Shams Charania.

While they are almost all but certainly out of the race to land the two-time MVP, landing Porzingis appears to be the most significant move the Warriors will make before the trade deadline. The Hawks’ center has averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this year.

Porziņģis, however, has appeared in just 17 games for the Hawks this season while dealing with an illness and an Achilles injury. He is currently in the final year of his 60$ million contract, set to be a free agent next season. Porzingis was recently upgraded to available.

According to recent updates, the former Hawks center will most likely make his debut for the Warriors this Saturday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
