Here’s what people around the NBA world were saying about the deal:

@YossiGozlan: “I doubt the Sacramento Kings are done. De’Andre Hunter for Dennis Schroder adds $10 million to their 2026-27 payroll, pushing them $13 million over the projected luxury tax line. I expect them to make subsequent moves to address this.”

@DedicationHoops: “adding a 28-year-old de’andre hunter to the worst team in the league in exchange for one of your best assets is a very sacramento kings thing to do”

@kingtisemedia: “I really wanna know why every team gets rid of Dennis Schroder”

Sam Vecenie: “Cleveland did excellent work turning what has been a career-worst De’Andre Hunter season into Schroder, Ellis, and about 45-50M in luxury tax/salary savings. Do think Ellis is a bit more limited than some do, but he works on defense and makes shots.”
