The status of Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant continues to be one of the NBA’s top storylines heading into the trade deadline. There’s plenty of speculation that Morant is entering his final weeks as a member of the organization, something he doesn’t seem worried about. Recent footage of Morant talking with his teammate will likely only add to the tension.
Ja Morant Appears Unhappy With Teammate in Leaked Footage
Footage from a recent practice revealed Morant having a lengthy discussion with Grizzlies teammate Vince Williams Jr. Popular social media account Legion Hoops shared the footage on X, saying, “Ja Morant gets into a heated argument with his teammate Vince Williams Jr.”
The Grizzlies are in Germany preparing for their upcoming game against the Orlando Magic, and the footage appears to show Morant and Williams having a disagreement.
While disagreements are natural between teammates, things appear to become intense as the discussion continues, with a member of the Grizzlies staff coming over to see what’s going on. While Williams Jr. walks away with a smile on his face, Morant appears visibly frustrated and even upset.

Morant traveled with the team to Europe, although he’s unlikely to play on the trip as he continues to receive treatment for his injured right calf. He’s averaging 19 points per game this season, while shooting a career low 40.1% from the field and 20.8% from three. Morant acknowledged the trade speculation surrounding him, saying he has to live with it.
The heated exchange with Williams Jr. will likely cause more fans to wonder if his relationship with his teammates has started to erode due to the tension and his unavailability this season for extended stretches.
The Grizzlies currently hold the last spot in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament with a 17-22 record, and have often looked better when Morant is off the floor. Perhaps many of his teammates wouldn’t mind if Morant is traded just to relieve the tension and put the focus solely on winning games.
Morant also served a one-game suspension this past November after a heated exchange with Head Coach Tuomas Iisalo. His recent comments regarding a possible trade suggest he is open and perhaps ready for a fresh start.
Time will tell if this latest footage of Morant harms his trade value, but the best thing for everyone is if Morant gets healthy soon and has a few good performances before the trade deadline.
