The Warriors were in Brooklyn taking on the Nets on Monday night, and Stephen Curry was showered with "MVP" chants by the crowd.

The Golden State Warriors were far from home on Monday as they took on the Nets in Brooklyn. However, by the end of the game, it felt like a home game for Stephen Curry.

The star guard had another solid game on Monday, finishing with 27 points, five assists, and two rebounds. At the end of the game, as Curry was shooting free throws, the large contingent of Warriors fans in the crowd showered Curry with “MVP” chants. Curry spoke about the moment after the game.

Curry Appreciative of MVP Chants on the Road

Curry was shooting two free throws with under a minute to play when the chants got loud. The legend made his first free throw but missed the second. After the game, Curry explained that the chants “distracted” him.

“I enjoy it. I appreciate it. It adds to the excitement,” Curry explained. “It’s probably one of the few times I’ve had the ‘MVP’ chant and missed the last free throw. Just getting distracted a little bit but I’m definitely grateful for it.”

That was the only free throw Curry missed for the night, and he also shot 53.3% from the field and 41.7% from deep.

This isn’t the first time Curry has heard “MVP” chants on the road. The Warriors have one of the biggest NBA fanbases and Curry is one of the most popular players ever, so it comes with the territory. Of course, Curry is a two-time MVP, winning the award in 2015 and 2016.

“It keeps you going, even on a back-to-back where it might be a little tough to find some energy,” Curry continued.

The Warriors escaped with a 120-107 win and will head to Charlotte to take on the Hornets on Tuesday night.

Warriors Looking to Make a Run in 2026

With the win on Monday night, the Warriors improved to 17-16 on the season. The team is third in the Pacific Division and would be the eighth seed in the West if the regular season ended today.

The Warriors have been elite on defense, but have been much more inconsistent on offense. The team is 20th in net offensive rating and third in net defensive rating according to NBA Advanced Stats.

With Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler only getting older, the team may need to pull off a bold move to truly contend in the West this season. The team’s final game of 2025 is on Tuesday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
