Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets) spoke about Houston Rockets star Alperen Şengün.

Alperen Şengün has established himself as one of the best forwards in the NBA at 23.

The 2025 NBA All-Star is currently averaging 23.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 50.0% from the field and 35.1% from three-point range in 21 games for the Houston Rockets.

Nikola Jokić Makes Feelings Clear About Alperen Şengün

Recently, the Rockets lost to the Denver Nuggets by a score of 128-125 (in Colorado).

Despite the loss, Şengün had 33 points, ten rebounds, ten assists, two steals and one block while shooting 14/27 from the field in 42 minutes of playing time.

After the game, three-time MVP Nikola Jokić spoke about Şengün (h/t @FranchiseSengun).

Jokić: “People need to stop comparing us. I think he’s an amazing player by himself… He’s definitely a talented player… He’s still young, so I think he needs to be recognized as Alperen Şengün. Not like whoever people are comparing him to.”

 

Şengün was the 16th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

He has spent all five seasons of his career playing for the Rockets.

His career averages are 16.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 51.6% from the field and 28.2% from three-point range in 307 games.

With the loss, the Rockets dropped to 16-7 in 23 games, which has them as the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

They have gone 6-4 over their last ten games.

Following the Nuggets, the Rockets will resume action on Thursday night when they visit Jordan Poole and the New Orleans Pelicans.

As for Jokić, he is in the middle of another sensational season with averages of 29.8 points, 12.4 rebounds, 10.8 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 61.3% from the field and 43.3% from three-point range in 25 games.

With their victory over the Rockets, the Nuggets improved to 19-6 in 25 games, which has them as the second seed in the Western Conference.

Following the Rockets, the Nuggets will play their next game on Thursday night when they host Desmond Bane and the Orlando Magic in Colorado.
