It appears that Luka Dončić has firmly settled in with the Los Angeles Lakers. After being abruptly traded to LA last season, Dončić dreaded the idea of leaving Dallas, which he had called home for seven years since leaving Slovenia to play in the NBA.
Fast forward to the present day, and the Lakers’ chemistry is at an all-time high. Dončić has taken command as the team’s leader; the younger players on the roster have stepped up to support the Slovenian star, and LeBron James can now take a backseat and provide help in other aspects of the game.
Luka Dončić Explains Why He Bought His Team E-Bikes
Now gelling with his newfound team, Santa Luka came in practice on Tuesday to surprise the entire Lakers team, including staff members, with $3,000 worth of e-bikes.
Christmas came early in LA as Dončić gifted the entire team with their own e-bikes. It was a gesture nobody saw coming, especially considering it came from a relatively new team member.
Dončić broke his silence on why he bought everyone e-bikes. The Slovenian star noted how hard the team has worked so far this season. Dončić is pleased with the way his team is performing, and in a sense, he would like to reward them.
“I probably enjoyed it the most (driving it) on the beach,” Dončić said about riding the e-bike he gifted to the team. “But I just wanted to give everybody something. Everybody works hard. Even the people you don’t see in the back. So I wanted to do something for them too.”

Despite being all smiles on Tuesday, it’s still business for the Lakers as they prepare to face off against the Utah Jazz on Thursday.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick expressed his concerns about his star players not contributing enough on defense, which results in a close score gap at the end of their games. Dončić acknowledged his coach’s concerns and admitted to his lack of defensive help.
“It was good,” Dončić said. “We talked about a lot – not just that. But he was right. You got to get a little bit more, especially from the star players. So that’s on us, that’s on me.”
Hopefully, we’ll get to see Dončić and LeBron James be more active on Thursday when they go up against the Jazz.
