Should You Draft Jaren Jackson Jr. in Fantasy Basketball?

Jaren Jackson is a valuable fantasy asset.

Jaren Jackson is a player you ONLY draft if you have a very specific plan.

For me, that’s a tough sell in the early position of the fourth round, but if you’re committed, it can work.

Jackson is averaging roughly one 3PA for every rebound over the past six seasons and that’s a weird statistical profile for a front court player with no other context.

But what if I told you that you can count on roughly three defensive stats per game as well?

If that was the end of it, I’d be in. But he’s a foul prone big with free throw volume that is all over the place.

With Zach Edey (ankle) not expected to debut until closer to Thanksgiving, Jackson could find himself under the rim with a little more consistency and stabilize his fantasy value a bit. That would be great to see, but we have a sample size of over 400 games of a very unique stat page.

If you’re intrigued by this profile, I think Cade Cunningham might be the best fit for the players routinely being drafted in the back-half of the first round. Jackson isn’t for everyone and if you’re not interested in doing your pre-draft homework when it comes to building a winner around such a skill set, I’d advise you look elsewhere.
