The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for one last championship window built around Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler. There’s a lot of pressure on the Warriors’ supporting cast to step up. Recently head coach Steve Kerr shared an interesting development regarding the team’s current status.
Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr Reveals He Hasn’t Settled on Starting Lineup
Kerr met with the media after the Warriors suffered a 126-116 preseason loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and revealed that’s he’s still evaluating the rotations, specifically the starting shooting guard spot. Kerr said “I can’t say that yet. We’ve got to see where we are. Brandin’s going to play a ton. He’s a hugely important player for us. But the starting lineup frankly is a little tricky for us. We still have a lot to think about.”

Kerr isn’t ready to commit to Moses Moody as a starter, as he’s currently dealing with a left calf strain that will sideline him for the rest of the preseason. However, Kerr is optimistic that the injury isn’t significant, and Moody will be available for the season opener against the Lakers.
The Warriors’ first round pick in 2021, Moody, is expected to take another step forward this season after playing in a career high 74 regular season games last year while averaging a career high 9.8 points per game.
Kerr added that center Al Horford’s situation complicates the potential starting lineup. The five-time All-Star is entering his 19th season in the league and first with the Warriors. Kerr said that Horford will play limited minutes this season due to his age, and the challenge is maximizing his minutes.
Despite not contributing much in the postseason so far, Horford is expected to fit the Warriors’ system perfectly, as he’s still a solid defender and three-point shooter even at his advanced age.
Kerr also discussed Podziemski, who could be the Warriors’ X-factor this season as they seek to become title contenders. The 2023 first-round pick has become the team’s most promising young player, partly due to the turmoil surrounding wing Jonathan Kuminga, whose future with the team remains cloudy at best.
Entering his third season in the league, Podziemski averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game last season. He ended last season on a high note individually, as he scored 28 points in the Warriors’ season-ending loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs. Podziemski also had a positive plus/minus rating of 259 last season, which demonstrated his value.

Kerr has a lot of options to consider in the starting lineup.
