‘I Know What’s Going On’ – Stephen Curry Sends Cryptic Message About Warriors’ Lack Of Offseason Moves

Stephen Curry isn't worried about the Warriors' quiet free agency period and explains why he has confidence in the front office's plan despite fan frustration.

More than two weeks into free agency, the Golden State Warriors remain surprisingly quiet while other Western Conference teams grab headlines with major moves. Fans are growing restless, but Stephen Curry isn’t sweating it.

Why Is Stephen Curry So Calm About the Warriors’ Quiet Offseason?

The Warriors’ biggest roster moves this offseason have been selecting Alex Toohey (No. 52) and Will Richard (No. 56) in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Meanwhile, the franchise continues pushing to re-sign Jonathan Kuminga, but that situation remains unresolved.

The departure of Kevon Looney after 10 years with the organization has left another hole to fill. With major roster gaps still needing attention, the Warriors fanbase is running out of patience. Curry, however, remains confident in the front office’s plan.

“The narrative outside versus the narrative inside might not always be the same,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole. “We talk. We have communication. I know what’s going on to the point where I have a lot of confidence in our ability to put together a winning team next year. That’s all I want.”

What Are the Warriors’ Financial Constraints This Offseason?

Following a disappointing 2024-25 season that ended with a second-round playoff exit, Golden State is looking to bounce back. The massive contracts of Jimmy Butler III, Draymond Green, and Curry have limited the franchise’s spending power this offseason.

Despite these financial restrictions, the Warriors know they need to maximize Curry’s remaining prime years. The franchise is determined to give him another shot at a championship, but the path forward requires careful planning and strategic moves.

Curry understands his role in the organization while maintaining respect for the front office’s expertise. His position as co-assistant general manager of Davidson’s basketball program gives him a unique perspective, but he’s clear about boundaries.

“My role at Davidson is a little different than me walking upstairs trying to do the GM’s job,” Curry joked with Poole. “But we have a great chain of communication. It’s not like I’m trying to overstep. This is what they do. This is what their job is. We all have a job to do for us to win and every year it presents new challenges. You got to solve that puzzle.

“We did a really good job of it forward the end of last year. Got to roll it back. And everybody has to be their best self through every role throughout the organization.”

The Warriors’ offseason success largely hinges on resolving Kuminga’s contract situation. While the current outlook appears challenging, Curry’s confidence in the front office provides reassurance that the organization has a plan in place.

Meanwhile, Curry’s recovery from his hamstring strain is progressing well. Warriors fans can look forward to seeing their superstar return to full health for the 2025-26 season.
