The Toronto Raptors switched to a cartoon dinosaur logo as a summer league joke. Two wins later, their fans are dead serious about keeping it forever.
Toronto entered the Las Vegas Summer League with a deep roster featuring several 2024-25 regular-season rotation players, 2025 No. 9 pick Collin Murray-Boyles, and a few 2025-26 roster hopefuls. The team’s aggressive defense has emerged as the biggest storyline so far, but fans have also noticed the Raptors’ success lining up perfectly with their logo switch-up.

How Did a Hand-Drawn Instagram Logo Spark This Movement?
Toronto’s lighthearted logo overhaul happened on Wednesday when the social media team listened to advice from the popular hand-drawn NBA art Instagram account @nbapaints.
The account redesigned the franchise’s logo, pointing out the importance of featuring a “menacing” raptor rather than just claw marks, like the team’s current emblem.

What Has the Defense-First Approach Accomplished So Far?
The results have been nothing short of dominant. On Friday, Toronto crushed the Chicago Bulls 116-72, forcing a summer league record 33 turnovers.

Two days later, Toronto held off the Orlando Magic 89-86 behind wing A.J. Lawson’s team-high 21 points off the bench. Meanwhile, Murray-Boyles showed his two-way potential in his first summer league action, putting up eight points, seven rebounds, three steals, and one block while shooting 3-for-5 (60.0%).

While Toronto seems to be having fun during the early stages of the offseason, much of the fan base has long wanted the team to bring back its classic cartoon raptor logo. The organization hasn’t indicated whether it plans to pursue a formal change anytime soon. However, if the Raptors keep winning in the summer league, the fan pressure will only get louder.
