WWE Officially Unveils Mariah May as Blake Monroe at NXT
May appeared in a segment that set the stage for her arrival in WWE on her NXT debut. However, her name was not mentioned during her first appearance. Just a week after her debut, the NXT episode featured a special vignette that showed her in a bubble bath, applying makeup, and getting ready in a “Glamorous” black dress. The promo ended with the reveal of her new ring name, Blake Monroe, which continued her “Glamour” nickname from her time in AEW.

This name change is not unusual for the company, as they often rebrand new signings to create new names they can trademark. In May’s case, “Blake” is reportedly a tribute to her niece, while “Monroe” is inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

Many wrestling fans were disappointed by the name change, as they think the new name is too plain and simple. They wanted WWE to show some creativity with such a big star, as one fan wrote: “Blake Monroe? C’mon, WWE, you can do better than that.”
