WWE Fans Dismiss NXT Star as Identity of Hooded Attacker Who Went After John Cena on SmackDown – Here’s Why

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown delivered a big twist in the closing moments—one that got fans talking across social media. As John Cena stood in the ring, delivering a passionate promo about his upcoming Backlash clash with Randy Orton, a masked and hooded figure slid into the ring behind him.

The mysterious attacker went for an RKO, seemingly trying to strike before Backlash. But the WWE Undisputed Champion saw it coming, countered, and dropped the masked individual with an Attitude Adjustment.

Just when fans thought it was over, the real Randy Orton appeared out of nowhere, hitting John Cena with a thunderous RKO and standing tall with the Undisputed WWE Championship to close the show.

WWE Fans Rule Out NXT’s Myles Borne as John Cena’s Mysterious Hooded Attacker on SmackDown

What really set the internet on fire wasn’t the surprise attack from Orton; it was the identity of the hooded figure who tried to hit John Cena first. Many fans immediately guessed that it might be Myles Borne, a rising star in NXT, based on body shape and presence. But as screenshots and slow-motion clips started circulating online, the wrestling community turned to the most unexpected detective tool—tattoo analysis.

    “myles borne probably 😭😭”

At first glance, it seemed like a reasonable guess. Myles Borne has the size and build to pull off a stunt like that. But keen-eyed fans weren’t convinced.

“It wasn’t Myles Borne. He only has tattoos on one arm if I’m not mistaken.”

That observation started gaining traction as more viewers rewatched the scene and paused to look at the attacker’s arms. The masked man had visible tattoos on both arms, while Myles Borne is only inked on one. This detail, small as it may seem, was enough to shift fan theories in a different direction.

“I had that early thought but it’s definitely not. The person has tattoos on both sides of the arms which Myles only has on one side.”

“I wish that was Myles Borne, but the tats don’t match up 😅 #SmackDown”

“not myles, he only has one sleeve, i guess shawn spears… i was thinking jimmy first but he is bigger than that”

Some fans pivoted toward other names like Shawn Spears, recently seen backstage at WWE events, and even Jimmy Uso, though many noted the masked attacker seemed smaller than Jimmy.

For now, WWE hasn’t revealed the identity of the hooded figure, which has only fueled the speculation further. It could be a setup for a new debut, a returning star, or simply a red herring in John Cena and Orton’s ongoing feud.
