WWE Confirms John Cena vs. CM Punk for One Last Time, but Fans Are Sulking – Here’s Why

The WWE Universe erupted as CM Punk emerged to interrupt John Cena on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. This confrontation, taking place 14 years after the beloved ‘Summer of Punk,’ saw him challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion to a showdown.

WWE confirmed the match between Cena and Punk for Night of Champions, airing from Riyadh on June 28. This should be a glorious occasion that fans celebrate every day until the two veterans lock up in Saudi Arabia. However, not everyone is happy that the match has been booked.

Fans Not Happy With John Cena vs. CM Punk

Many fans expected The Last Real Champion and The Second City Saint to throw down at least once before the former officially retired from WWE. Now that the match has been made official, there is a lot of hype for Night of Champions. However, some fans are not impressed with WWE for booking the contest.

One user brought up Punk’s history with Saudi Arabia, stating, “The CM Punk Saudi Arabia discourse is going to be nasty and annoying.” Another one backed them up, blaming Cena for the entire thing, saying, “Cena a whole villain making Punk go to Saudi…” Yet another fan revealed that they think The Best in the World may not even make it to Saudi Arabia, suggesting that Seth Rollins has every chance of taking him out before June 28.

Some other fans hinted at the Saudi Arabian stage not being illustrious enough for such an epic contest. “Hmm. Sure. I mean, a big PLE (SummerSlam) is right around the corner, but why not?” a netizen claimed on X. Another one tweeted, “No SummerSlam? No final match? Saudi really busted out that ‘We Saudi….we want Punk vs Cena.'”

Cena vs. Punk For The Last Time

Nevertheless, despite the worries and frustrations, we are sure Cena and Punk will tear the house down when it is time for their match. This runback of their epic rivalry should result in some epic promo battles and sensational in-ring action.

The Franchise Player and The Voice of the Voiceless are synonymous with each other, being directly responsible for some of the greatest moments in WWE history. They will be looking to wrap up their saga with a final dance that looks to the past and to the future.

Will Punk be the one to end Cena’s reign of terror? Let us know what you think!
