Will John Cena Appear On The Final WWE SmackDown Before Backlash 2025? Here’s What To Expect

The go-home edition of WWE SmackDown for their upcoming Premium Live Event, Backlash, is shaping up to keep fans on the edge of their seats. The promotion has announced two blockbuster matches on the Blue brand that can alter the course of the company. Apart from that, the WWE Universe is eagerly awaiting to see if the Last Real Champion, John Cena, will appear and deliver his last statement before his mega match at WWE Backlash.

Is John Cena Showing Up For The Final Edition of SmackDown before WWE Backlash?

It was announced during the broadcast of last week’s SmackDown that John Cena will appear on the blue brand this week. This will mark Cena’s second appearance on SmackDown since winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 and dethroning Cody Rhodes.

The record-breaking 17-time World Champion is expected to address his upcoming opponent, who happens to be his longtime rival, Randy Orton. The duo is set to collide at WWE Backlash with the richest prize in sports entertainment on the line.

Orton and Cena have been going at each other ever since the Viper took him out with an RKO on the RAW after WrestleMania 41. Two weeks ago, the duo engaged in a heated exchange and agreed to face each other ‘one last time’ in a match amidst Cena’s ongoing farewell tour.

Cena tried to sneak attack Orton that night, but he countered and laid out the champion again with an RKO. This week’s edition of SmackDown could see one last altercation between the duo before they step in the ring against each other at Backlash.

What Else Is In Store For This Week’s Edition Of WWE SmackDown?

Apart from John Cena’s appearance, two matches were also announced for this week’s edition of SmackDown. The tension in the women’s division will see a turning point with a huge match. The Storm, Jade Cargill, will battle against The Irresistible Force, Nia Jax.

The winner of the match will become the No.1 contender for Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Championship. However, as witnessed last week, Naomi attacked both Stratton and Cargill and held the title high above her head, hinting at her potential involvement, too.

WWE SmackDown will take place from Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio at t 8 ET/7 CT on USA and promises to be an enthralling show before Backlash.
