Who Won WWE LFG? Shawn Michaels Presents Winners, NXT Debut Awaits

The first season of WWE’s reality competition show “LFG” (Legends & Future Greats) concluded Sunday night with Shawn Michaels awarding NXT contracts to the winners. After weeks of competition under legendary mentors, Tyra Mae Steele and Jasper Troy emerged victorious in the finals that aired May 18 on A&E.

The final matches of WWE LFG, taped at Madison Square Garden earlier this year, saw both competitors prove they had what it takes to join the NXT roster.

WWE LFG Finals Results

The women’s final featured Team Undertaker’s Steele defeating Team Bubba Ray’s Zena Sterling in a hard-fought match. Steele, who is Olympic Gold Medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock, used her amateur wrestling background to secure the win.

In the men’s match, Team Booker T’s Troy defeated Team Undertaker’s Shiloh Hill to claim his spot in NXT. Troy, whose real name is Antione Frazier, is a former offensive lineman for the University of Northern Iowa.

The Undertaker was awarded the first-ever LFG Championship belt during the finale. This honor came because he had two competitors reach the finals – Steele and Hill – giving his team the best overall performance of the season.

Though Team Mickie James didn’t have any finalists, all four legendary coaches – Undertaker, Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Mickie James – watched closely as their proteges competed.

Future Opportunities For The WWE LFG Winners

Both winners will soon make their official NXT debuts, though reports indicate all LFG competitors are already signed to developmental deals in reality. Hill has already appeared in an NXT Championship #1 contender battle royal, suggesting other participants may show up on NXT programming soon.

“They will likely make their NXT debuts in the coming weeks,” noted wrestling news site WrestleTalk regarding the winners. The final episode featured Michaels personally handing contracts to both Steele and Troy, officially welcoming them to the NXT roster.

The 15-episode competition has proven successful enough that according to Mickie James, A&E has renewed WWE LFG for three more years. “It was so much fun,” James said. “To have the success to know that it’s gotten picked up for not just another season, but for three years, so like six seasons hopefully. That’s a big damn deal.”

With their victories secured and contracts in hand, Steele and Troy now begin their journey from reality show winners to potential WWE superstars. The wrestling world will be watching closely as these new talents take their hard-earned opportunity to shine on NXT.
