Top WWE Star Shoots on Conor McGregor’s Potential in Pro Wrestling

Irish-born professional mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has often been cited as one of the mixed martial artists who could make a smooth transition into WWE. However, the sports entertainment capital’s Intercontinental Champion begs to differ.

Lyra Valkyria Says Conor McGregor Is Not Fit for WWE

In a recent interview with the “Irish Mirror,” Valkyria touched upon a bevy of topics. The Irish wrestler noted how much talent from her country is in WWE and the bond they share.

“I always think about how small our country is, with WWE, this massive international, huge company. The amount of Irish on RAW alone is incredible. It’s such a talented bunch to have come from our country, so I’m really proud to be a part of that,” she said.

Lyra revealed she is on top of the world as she became the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. She also made her WrestleMania debut last month alongside fellow Irish star Becky Lynch.

When asked about McGregor’s chances in WWE, she was rather emphatic. “He doesn’t have what it takes,” Valkyria said. She also refused to answer the UFC star’s chances at becoming President of Ireland in the upcoming elections.

Valkyria Scored an Upset Over Becky Lynch at Backlash

Lyra defeated Lynch to become NXT Women’s Champion in the fall of 2023. However, she is still referred to as an upcoming star on RAW. Valkyria and Lynch entered into a heated rivalry after the former lost their Women’s Tag Team titles back to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

The Man claimed that Valkyria cannot be saved and chastised her for her association with Bayley. In the end, though, the Women’s Intercontinental Champion narrowly escaped defeat at Backlash, humbling Lynch. But it did not stop there.

The former WrestleMania main eventer continued to attack Valkyria post-match, supposedly hinting at another title match between the two.

The feud between Lynch and Valkyria has been noted for the Man’s ability to elevate young talent, and more importantly, allowing the Women’s Intercontinental Champion to showcase her promo skills.

What’s Next for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion?

Valkyria cost Lynch her spot at the Money in the Bank on RAW this past Monday. The match also featured Roxanne Perez and Natalya. Lyra’s interference may have been a setup for their inevitable rematch. Lynch desperately wants to prove a point that she is still the best wrestler in the block. Could the Man finally become the Women’s IC titleholder?
