‘The One To Dethrone John Cena’ – WWE Fans Lose It After Ex-US Champ and Cena Share Backstage Moment on SmackDown

John Cena’s reign as Undisputed WWE Champion already has its first threat in Randy Orton. On SmackDown, the two legends agreed to a title match at Backlash, with Orton RKO-ing The Last Real Champion to affirm it. But some fans reckon Orton should not be the guy to take Cena down. They believe in the power of long-term storytelling, calling for R-Truth himself to be the guy.

John Cena and R-Truth Meet Backstage

This week’s episode of SmackDown featured a backstage segment between John Cena and R-Truth. The 17-time World Champion was walking backstage before being stopped by the GOAT 24/7 Champion. He congratulated Cena for his win at WrestleMania and told him to call if he ever needed help.

The Last Real Champion’s reaction was to just walk away, something that this new heel persona has made us numb to. The segment got more interesting when Jimmy Uso entered the frame and questioned The Franchise Player’s morals. Truth told Uso that Cena was a true champion and that maybe he was right for turning his back on everyone. He stated that there are always two sides to every story. The former US Champion concluded by saying that he wants to be just like Cena when he grows up. As Truth walked away, Big Jim looked absolutely baffled.

Fans absolutely loved this segment and even called for it to lead to something. Check out some of the fan reactions below:

“I would honestly love to see this, even if it was a 1-day reign,” one user said.

“National treasure. Put him in the Hall of Fame twice,” stated this one.

“Truth turning heel with Cena will be amazing,” wrote another fan.

John Cena is R-Truth “Childhood Hero.”

John Cena has countless fans all over the globe, with Truth being the biggest one. He has even teamed with his childhood hero in a tag team match. It was the pair and The Miz in action against The Judgment Day on the April 8, 2024, episode of RAW.

The Face that Runs the Place was a surprise teammate, but once he arrived, the tide of the match changed entirely. Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh couldn’t keep up with his energy.

Towards the end, Cena encouraged his teammates to hit an amazing Fifteen Knuckle Shuffle and a triple Attitude Adjustment. They then pinned the three heels at the same time to win the match.
