WWE has had everyone talking over the past few days following the releases of R-Truth and Carlito. The main roster stars were all experienced members of the company with contracts that were expiring, and WWE opted not to renew any of their deals.
Fans have been particularly upset about R-Truth’s situation, but it has led to question marks over who could be next on the chopping block, with The Miz being someone whose name has come up.
More WWE Releases Are Expected
While WWE typically releases a bunch of wrestlers post-WWE WrestleMania in a yearly clean-out, the last three have seemingly come due to their contracts expiring.
That makes it hard to know whether more are being planned, as WWE is never openly public about releases. Instead, they just opt to make the announcement and then leave everyone to deal with the aftermath.
However, during the latest Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez did reveal that more WWE releases could be on the way imminently.
He said, “[I’ve] been told that [there] might be others as well. So this might not be the end with Valhalla being released.”
The Miz’s Behavior Has Added Doubt Over His Future
It’s unknown who might end up being released, but The Miz is someone fans are keeping an eye on due to his odd social media behavior. The A-Lister is typically all about promoting WWE, with his online presence being one of the strongest in the company.
However, following R-Truth’s release, he removed all references to WWE from his social media accounts. This is the type of behavior someone who was about to be released would exhibit, and that’s something that Alvarez noted.
“Miz has not been doing much lately, and on Friday, they did a segment he had just gotten put together with Carmelo Hayes as a tag team, and they were teasing a breakup on Friday… And this was right when they cut Truth and Carlito, and now Sarah Logan and I’ve been told there were others.”
“And I bring up Miz, not just because of that angle, but if you go to his his Twitter, I mean, there are no mentions of WWE… It no longer says the most must-see WWE superstar. He removed all references to WWE. It now says ‘the most must-read Twitter account of all time,’ and that’s it.”
Alvarez added, “Now, I was told that he is doing the new season of American Gladiators or whatever. And so I know people are skeptical they would get rid of him now.”
The Miz’s WWE Contract is Causing Worry
While The Miz is busy with filming commitments right now and is one of WWE’s most successful superstars, his contract status is a cause for concern.
I’m thrilled to announce I’m the new host of AMERICAN GLADIATORS! The 10-year-old me is screaming. Huge thanks to MGM & Amazon Prime Video for trusting me with this iconic legacy. We’re honoring the original and bringing fresh energy to a whole new generation. AG IS BACK! pic.twitter.com/tJk94agiSf

Fightful Select previously reported that he hasn’t been notified that his contract won’t be renewed, which is a slightly positive sign. However, The Miz’s deal is expected to expire this year, so the fact that nothing is happening to extend it could set alarm bells ringing.
Ultimately, The Miz is someone who is past his prime in WWE, but he’s someone who can still offer a lot. He’s also one of the most loyal employees WWE has, having rarely put a foot wrong throughout his tenure; therefore, letting him go would generate a lot of negativity reaction.
