Potential Spoiler Alert: 7-Time Champion’s Return Will Cost Gunther the World Title on WWE RAW Tonight

Gunther vs. Jey Uso headlines the June 9 edition of Monday Night RAW, scheduled to air live from the PHX Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

This is Gunther’s first shot at regaining the belt he lost to Uso at WrestleMania 41. While The Ring General seems to be rejuvenated after his mini-feud with Pat McAfee following the Show of Shows, his past actions might catch up with him soon.

Is a Storm Coming for Gunther on Monday Night RAW?

Gunther reverted his focus to Main Event Jey, announcing a few weeks ago that he would challenge Uso on the June 9 episode of RAW. Meanwhile, a legend of the industry had announced his retirement from in-ring competition after one final match. The bout is reportedly being planned for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.

At Bad Blood in October 2024, Gunther berated Atlanta’s own Bill Goldberg. To add insult to injury, he took a dig at Goldberg’s parenting skills, prompting the WCW legend to hop the barricade and step inside the squared circle to confront The Ring General. This segment sparked speculation that Gunther is Goldberg’s final opponent.

With one month reportedly left for Goldberg’s final in-ring performance before he rides off into the sunset, tonight’s episode of RAW is as good a time as ever to shift this program to high gear. Goldberg knocking the wind out of the former World Heavyweight Champion, which would lead to the latter eating another loss at the hands of Jey Uso, would raise the intensity of this potential rivalry.

Goldberg’s Thoughts on His Final Wrestling Match, and Who It Should Be Against

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Goldberg revealed that John Cena, Roman Reigns, and even Bron Breakker are potential candidates. He singled out Breakker because of his relationship with the young stalwart, especially the former Intercontinental Champion’s father and the entire Steiner family.

Be that as it may, when it comes to Gunther, Goldberg was rather emphatic, further teasing their feud. “He’s the new generation. I’m the old generation. It’s kind of like a passing of the torch in a way. I wouldn’t turn that one down by any stretch of the imagination,” Goldberg said, before adding, “You don’t ever open your mouth in front of my wife and my son negatively about me.”

In a few hours, we may find out if Gunther vs. Goldberg is the WWE Hall of Famer’s swan song and whether the bout is in fact planned for Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.
